at Nickerson St. Zendo, (101 Nickerson Street, Suite 130, Seattle, WA, 98109)
Author and Zen Priest, Ruth Ozeki, will give the talk today. Her highly acclaimed book, A Tale for the Time Being, weaves together themes from Zen and contemporary life, including alienated teens, treasured grandmothers, monastery life and Dogen's Uji.
Ruth is a student of Norman Fischer and often practices with us at the Samish Island Sesshin. We are delighted that we've been able to arrange this visit.
Our practice this Sunday will include sitting meditation (zazen), walking meditation (kinhin), a Dharma talk, and a brief Zen service (liturgy). Our Guest teacher will give the talk. Eko Jeff will offer dokusan during meditation. You can sign up for dokusan when you arrive.
Newcomers are welcome. If you are a first time participant, please try to arrive by 9:10 so we can show you around a bit.
Please wear loose, comfortable clothing. We supply cushions, kneeling benches and chairs. Please be at your seat by 9:25 a.m. There is no charge for sittings. We welcome your donation.
We can be a little hard to find. Our Zendo is in the Aikido Dojo in the office building set back from the street. Study the Google Map carefully to see how to find us.
