The Fall Practice Period at Seattle Soto Zen is a time in which participants commit to intensify their practice as allowed by the circumstances of their lives. During these weeks, Kanshin will be offering a class on Tuesday evenings, and all practice period participants will be paired with a practice partner to support one another in our training and our aspiration. All are welcome to join at the level of commitment that works for them. This practice period is open to all, beginners and experienced practitioners alike.
We will officially begin the practice period at our regular gathering on Sunday, Oct. 20. The practice period ends with the Rohatsu sesshin, led jointly by Nomon Tim Burnett and Kanshin Allison Tait, Dec. 4 - 8 at Red Cedar Dharma Hall in Bellingham (separate registration required for sesshin).
The requirements are:
- Register using the link below. You will be asked whether you already have a partner or if you want one assigned to you. If you have a partner, you will be asked for the name. It’s best if this person is not your spouse.
- Decide what commitments you want to make beyond those that currently make up your practice. We suggest you do this with care; stretch yourself a little but not more than is sustainable.
- Meet with your practice partner at least twice during the period, at the beginning to discuss your commitments and broader intentions and toward the end to discuss how it all went. Consider meeting more often.
I hope that you can join us as we explore the path together.
