Buddhist teachings and science agree: much of what we take to be real is really a construction of the mind. What we see and hear, even our most tightly held beliefs, are manifestions of a self that fears discontinuity. However, these tightly held beliefs are the root of much suffering in our lives.
Drawing on examples from pre-Buddhist stories, Zen koans and her rich personal experience as a middle school teacher, Kathie helps us take ourselves just a little less seriously. And it feels great :-)
