Members connect
Ours is a practice of giving generously and receiving gratefully. When you become a member of Seattle Soto Zen you have a chance to do both. Seattle Soto Zen is supported completely by donations. They pay the rent for our practice spaces and provide us with the accoutrements necessary to do what we do. They enable us to offer our Spiritual Director a small monthly stipend. They enable us to offer scholarships for most of our events for those at lower income levels, and to donate five percent of our annual income to charity. We ask members to commit to a regular financial contribution to Seattle Soto Zen in any affordable amount. Regular contributions allow us to better plan our yearly finances and assess our resources.
The greatest benefits of membership are the support you receive from fellow members and the strengthening of your practice that happens when you make the commitment. In addition, members receive discounts to most of our regular practice offerings, which are available to all. Membership qualifies you to vote at annual meetings and vote for and serve as a member of our Board of Directors.
Seattle Soto Zen is legally organized as a nonprofit religious corporation and has tax exempt status under section 501(c) (3) of the IRS code; contributions by members or non-members are tax deductible. All of our financial activities are open and are available for members to review. If you have any questions, please email office@seattlesotozen.org, review the membership policy, or speak to someone at one of our services.
